Erickson ‘The Hammer’ Lubin 17-0 (11 KO’s) is a super welterweight rising star. He was named the 2016 prospect of the year on PBC and ESPN after his impressive performances last year.

Lubin and his coaches Jason Galarza and Nelson Rodriguez are from Orlando, Florida. Last month, they opened training camp for his upcoming fight against Mexican puncher Jorge Cota 25-1-0 (22 KO’s).

The Lubin-Cota fight is scheduled for 12 rounds, and set to take place as part of the undercard to the Showtime televised card where welterweight champions Danny Garcia and Keith Thurman will collide in the main event. The card takes place on March 4 from New York.

Lubin, #5 in the WBC rankings, expects this fight against #8 ranked Cota to put him closer to a world title shot. The PROBOX team aspires that Lubin will win this bout and then be positioned by the sanctioning body as a contender for an elimination bout.

“Erickson Lubin signed with PROBOX when he turned 18 and we are convinced that it was the best thing for his career. We have given him the best fights, and his awards like the 2016 prospect of the year for PBC and ESPN confirm that Lubin has the potential to achieve his dreams very soon,” said Garry Jonas.

Lubin fought 4 times in 2016: On January 31 at the Seminole Casino, Immokalee, Florida – Lubin defeated Jose de Jesús Macías by unanimous decision in 10 rounds. Later, on June 18 from the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, Illinois – Lubin stopped experienced Daniel Sandoval by TKO in 3 rounds.

On July 16, Lubin squared off with Ivan Montero at the Legacy Arena, Birmingham, Alabama – and won a unanimous decision in 8 rounds. Finally on December 10 from the USC Galen Center in, Los Angeles, California – Lubin closed out 2016 with another well-earned victory by blowing away Juan Ubaldo Cabrera by knockout in two rounds.
